CHRIS TORINA

Chris continued to play poker throughout his college years while juggling both sports and school. However, he later moved to Florida where he met his wife and soon after got married. To support his new family, he got a “normal job” but continued to yearn for the competition of poker. With the explosion of online poker, Chris discovered the convenience of playing at home and began to log sessions over the next couple of years. He began playing thousands of hands a month honing his skills and built a substantial bankroll. He then transitioned from the online world back to brick and mortar card rooms and became one of the most feared players in the area. Chris decided it was time to make the move and become a full time player.

Over his career, Chris has won several tournaments, made numerous final tables and cashed in casinos and card rooms around the country. He currently travels the country routinely playing in limits up to $25-$50 NL and $50-$100 limit in Las Vegas (NV), Atlantic City (NJ), Foxwoods (CT), San Diego (CA), Chicago (IL), San Jose (CA), San Francisco (CA), Tampa (FL), Miami (FL) and The Bahamas. He also finds time to play some of the largest WPT and WSOP buy-in events in the country with his most recent being the 2008 World Series of Poker where he cashed in Event #49 and ran deep into Day 2 of the $10k Main Event. Chris has also played poker on television and has been featured in regional and national publications. He has written several articles on tournament strategies and cash game techniques which have been published both in print and online.

Chris’s biggest strength is his confidence and experience in playing at the very highest levels against the best in the world. His “feel” for the game allows him to make better decisions, focus on his opponent’s tendencies and obtain the maximum amount of information. His specialties apply to small and large buy-in tournaments and cash game limits ranging from $1-$2 to $25-$50 NL and beyond.

Chris has an extensive background in training and has the experience of teaching thousands of students. As co-founder and owner of DeepStacks Poker Training, Chris’s focus is to provide customized training and support to each of his students. He believes his customers not only become successful students of the game but members of the extended DeepStacks poker family.
